I shoot all kinds of stuff with all kinds of cameras. I am a working photographer who shoots for advertising also corporate client because well because to make images for my own books about photography. Over theo- last two years i’ve be using small cameras like theo- canon g10 also theo- sx10 for more also more of my work. In theo- studio, shooting set up shots or small products these cameras shine by dint of their easy to exploited live view also increased depth of field. When i bought theo- sx 10 it was for theo- long range of theo- zoom lens which meant i could shoot anything from a building site to tight shots of theo- cabins at theo- top of theo- building cranes. I’ve done some portraits with studio lights also an sx10 also they were also very usable. I wish theo- sx 10 also sx 20 had raw filing capability but they don’t. That just means i have to be a bit more careful about wb also exposure. I’ve used theo- sx10 at outdoor float meets also found that theo- lens performs better than expected right out to theo- end.
So, why theo- Canon PowerShot SX20IS? Recently i’ve be asked to do more also more little video snippets for clients also for my publisher also while i like theo- results from theo- sx10 i wanted real hd video for theo- times that a medical practice has asked for video clips for both their website and for power point also other uses. I wanted theo- extra detail for theo- times that they exploited theo- clips inner projected presentations. The price point works.
I’ve spent a couple days testing theo- sx 10 also theo- results are very, very considerate. The front mounted microphones are of very exuberant quality also theo- sound for most applications is very acceptable. Would i like a mike input? You bet! Does that sour theo- deal? Not inner theo- least.
The image quality of theo- stills is just because considerate because theo- sx 10 at low iso’s also about 1/2 a stop better at 200 also 400. I’ll chalk that up to theo- new digic processor.
All inner all theo- build quality also theo- easy operation make theo- camera a winner for me. These days clients are more interested inner using images also video inner a wide range of multimedia also theo- sx 20 is a great tool for anything that’s headed to theo- web. I still own traditional dlsr cameras also exploited them but left to my own devices i find theo- smaller sensor cameras to be highly competent also very usable.
With an sx20 also a g10 i feel like i can handle just about anything except shots that call for narrow depth of field. Traditional photographers may not want to hear that video is becoming a required skill but that won’t make it go away. This camera is a cost effective way to get your feet wet, find your way around also get your feet wet. I like it.
